Summer Workshop Offerings

Eco printing is a sustainable, natural dyeing technique of capturing botanical prints directly from live and dried plants.
In our Eco Printing workshops, students will create a sustainably hand-dyed scarf, table runner or garment. Eco-printing employs the use of botanical material as the design elements. Participants will learn how to coax the color and shape of their live plant material design into the fabric. Each student will take home their very own one-of-a-kind eco printed piece.
Beginner to experienced levels are welcomed!

All Classes will be held in the outdoor courtyard of our shop in Anacortes, WA.

Eco Printing Foundations on Cellulose Workshop:

June 26th, 11 - 4

In this hands-on, one-day introductory workshop, you’ll dive into the enchanting alchemy of water, heat, metal, and plant matter to create vivid, detailed prints on organic cotton fiber. From choosing the right leaves to bundling and steaming, you'll learn the entire process of turning foraged foliage into breathtaking, botanical textile art.

You’ll learn which plants yield the best results, how to prepare your fabric and foliage, and techniques for laying out, rolling, tying, and cooking your bundles.

This is a technique-driven workshop (not product-based), perfect for beginners and fiber lovers who want to learn the essentials in a relaxed, sensory-rich setting. Be prepared for the earthy aroma of eucalyptus, the joy of experimentation, and a day full of creative discovery.

The day ends with two cotton shawls, filled with your eco-dyed patterns and textures.

Advanced Eco Printing

Creating color using a Carrier Blanket

In this one day workshop students will learn how to layer gorgeous color backgrounds into an eco-printed textile. This class focuses on a technique called “eco-printing with a carrier blanket” and has become very popular among textile artists around the world. Beginning with a blank white scarf, participants will create a design on the fabric using plant materials. A separate fabric will then be used to infuse a colorful background. Each Student will leave with two shawls and have worked with two different dye materials.

**Participants are required to have taken Eco Printing Foundations class or to have some previous eco-printing experience.
